CITY OF GREENSBORO STORMWATER INVENTORY (2001)

<< Back to Projects

Greensboro, NC
Description: The City of Greensboro, North Carolina completed a StormWater Infrastructure Inventory project in order to gather location and specific structure dimensions/condition information on all city storm water conveyance systems, and to establish complete connectivity of the storm water conveyance systems. The city did not have a complete inventory of the storm drainage features to date. The only available data on the existing systems was a series of hand-marked city planimetric maps from the 1950s. The StormWater Infrastructure Inventory project scope included three primary components: (1.) determination of the location of each structure (2.) collection of structure attributes and (3.) development of a GIS database that included all of the information on the stormwater conveyance system. CESI provided the horizontal and vertical control for the entire project by setting 341 first order GPS monuments throughout the city. CESI also provided RTK locations of over 20,000 storm structures to an accuracy of +5cm. We also provided quality control by verifying the connectivity of the storm system. The project was completed over a 5 year time frame. The City of Greensboro StormWater Infrastructure Inventory project highlights CESI’s specialized experience in GPS surveys and ability to manage a large scale, multi-year project.
